Pentel Orenz AT Dual Grip 0.5mm Mechanical Pencil PP2005
The revolutionary Orenz Sliding Sleeve Mechanical Pencil was created by Pentel in 2014. Say goodbye to constantly clicking to advance the lead - the pencil's innovative mechanism allows the metal sleeve to slide back, exposing just enough lead for you to write without worrying about breakage. It's like sketching with one fluid motion, no interruptions! Pentel is known for being the first company to produce 0.5mm lead, but they didn't stop there. In the 1960s, they took it even further by creating the world's finest 0.2mm lead. However, this lead was too delicate for most consumers and the pencil was primarily used by professionals in drafting. Sadly, it was discontinued. But in 2014, the new sliding sleeve mechanism was invented, bringing back the beloved 0.2mm mechanical pencil.
In 2017, Pentel introduced the Orenz Nero as the flagship model in their Orenz series. With a metallic body that adds weight to the pencil, the Orenz Nero offers a premium writing experience over its regular plastic counterparts. The spring inside the tip, similar to the DelGuard, helps absorb pressure while writing, and the extended sleeve ensures precision. The 12-faceted design not only looks sleek, but also improves grip. While the Orenz Nero has been a hit among professionals, Pentel now aims to make the new Orenz AT more accessible to students. This new model includes the same auto-advance mechanism as the Orenz Nero, but the internal components have been re-engineered to fit into a new resin body with a 12-faceted metallic grip. To further enhance grip, an additional rubber grip, reminiscent of the popular Pentel Smash, has been added to the metallic grip, earning this version the name Dual Grip.
